No.4: Silhouettes Speak Volumes

Generous, oversized silhouettes dominated the fall/winter 2017/18 collections in Milan. Coats and capes were roomy enough to envelop even the most voluminous silhouette worn below. The waistline moved into focus via belts on coats or on retro vintage dresses with longer hemlines. Wide shoulders were another hallmark of the season in straight-line dresses or suit jackets. More interpretations of volume on top were billowing sleeves, a look continued from spring. Creative layering contributed furthermore to the voluminous effect.
