DESIGNER COLLECTION ANALYSIS: FALL/WINTER 2017/18 LONDON
/No.4:Silhouettes
Whether coats, suits, dresses or pants, designers added new twists to familiar garment silhouettes. Sleeves were a focal point, from only one sleeve to elongated fluttery sleeves to bulbous romantic sleeves. They certainly added a new look to blouses, dresses and jackets alike.
Cropped sweaters showing off bare midriffs did not want to let go of summer. On the purely classic side were new again tailored wool coats and pantsuits with either short fitted jackets or with longer tunic length lines. In fact, tunics worn over trousers or skirts were another important look. At the same time there was no shortage of ultra femininity with demure longer lengths dresses and plenty of ruffles and tiers.
The newest direction was probably towards oversized and casually relaxed. Boxy jackets and coats looked quite large whereas long length, unstructured knit dresses promised ease and comfort.
